While travelling the Scottish wilderness, Lindsay sent me a photo of a standard-issue bovine and asked if she’d found a Highland Cow (in her defence, it was orange); so, upon her and Julien’s return, we paid a visit to Pollok Country Park to see the real thing.

Later that week: showing my gorgeous almost-birthday twin Jez & hubby Matt the sights! Continuing the theme of all our post-Japan reunions falling upon significant milestones, we’ve now met (accidentally!) on my 30th when we both happened to be celebrating in New York, in Puerto Rico for Jez’s wedding, and now in Scotland for mine. 🎉

Some quality reunion time with Lindsay and Chris, who flew in a week before the wedding. We’ve spoken just about every day for the last 11 years but this is the first time we’ve been on the same continent since 2011!

That evening: cocktails at Heads & Tales Gin Bar. Nestled in the basement of the Rutland Hotel, it’s the home of Edinburgh Gin; who have installed two actual working gin stills in the middle of the bar itself named Flora and Caledonia.

Road trip to one of Scotland’s most amazing locations. Part of the Trotternish ridge, the Storr was created by a massive ancient landslide, leaving behind one of the most photographed landscapes in the world.
