Rescued this little guy today after she spectacularly crashed into our living room window and then careened off the (parked!) car below. We phoned the RSPCA who advised us that birds are often just stunned after an impact and to keep her safe until she recovered. Sure enough, before we even had time to poke some air-holes in a box, she came back to her senses, and – summarily unamused at finding herself in my company – shat in my hand, then flew off into sky.

The goldcrest is apparently the smallest bird in Europe and, in honour of her scientific name (Regulus regulus), we named her Regina. 👑

This year, courtesy of my two dearest friends, I received the absolute best birthday presents a man could ever hope for – to wit: an Ursula birthday cake flavoured like a giant Jaffa Cake, and the closest (or at least most legal way) I will ever come to owning a red panda.
