I recently had the pleasure of working with Nick Varley: CEO and co-founder of global film distributor Park Circus.

…is what I’d usually write, except that Scotland has evidently been saving all its summer days for the last 5 years and we’re now getting them all at once!

Kim and James’ wedding was an elegant, family affair at the gorgeous Gleneagles Hotel.

The couple had an intimate dinner the night before the big day at the Birnam Brasserie, followed by a morning of clay-pigeon shooting on spectacular grouse moor. Kim and James were married in a ceremony full of love, laughter, and a traditional Celtic handfasting.

Making use of the venue’s multiple, award-winning rooms, the rest of the day was spent showing their guests the best of what Gleneagles had to offer: from the glamorous, 1920s-inspired American Bar which looked like it had jumped right off the pages of The Great Gatsby; to an evening meal at the Strathearn which perfectly represents the rich heritage and beauty of Highland dining.

All throughout, the smiles never left the newlywed’s faces, and it was clear from their ability to make one another laugh that this was a marriage rooted as deeply in friendship as it was love. It was an absolute pleasure to help Kim and James document their day.

They’re not kidding when they call it the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience! From the show’s actual composer Ramin Djawadi rocking out on an electric guitar before hopping on the piano and exploding in a plume of wildfire; to a violinist suspended 30 feet in the air while a cascade of red weirwood leaves fall from the ceiling above her; to snow and fire raining down on the stage and audience alongside the visuals of dragons and white walkers, it was – without a doubt – one of the most immersive musical spectacles I’ve seen in years.

(And – making me grateful that the European leg of the tour started so late in the run of the TV show – they played my all-time favourite Game of Thrones track, ‘Light of the Seven’!)

New for wedding packages in 2018: digital photographs can be delivered in these beautiful presentation boxes, engraved with any image of your choosing that tells the story of your day.

Giles recently met his new neighbour, Nevis the Dachshund – possibly the only pup around that makes Glasgow’s tiniest cavalier look like a normal-sized dog. Giles is a little intimidated owing to a previous bad experience with a sausage dog but now that Nevis has joined the Townhounds Dog Walking pack, I’m sure Nevis will be his favourite cocktail sausage in no time! (Which is just as well really since I’m making every excuse possible to run into him.) 🌭
