Dedicated to mes amis canadien: I finally paid a visit to the first Tim Hortons in Europe…right here in Glasgow! Back when it opened in June, people were queued around the block; which, when you consider the fact that Tim’s is basically the Canadian equivalent of Greggs, is just ridiculous. 🍁🇨🇦🏒

Last month at the new (permanent!) residence of Ramen Dayo on Queen St. Between the four us, we’ve visited every incarnation along the way.

Note that John and I finally got our hands on the erstwhile sold-out melon soda, which (oddly, even more than the ramen) was a thoroughly 懐かしい taste of home-from-home! 🍈

Birthday dinner at Ramen Dayo; and some of the most authentic-tasting ramen I’ve had this side of Japan. (Veg/an options available – and, indeed, pictured!) 🍜

Added bonus: they were also showing Ghibli movies in the background (Totoro then Spirited Away) and the lovely waitress gave me a free pack of hi-chew when she found out it was my birthday! I’ve just learned that they’re now selling melon soda which definitely necessitates a return trip. 🍈

John’s birthday breakfast at Rose & Grants.

Featuring the second best square faux-sausage in Glasgow. (First is Soy Division.) This was followed by massages and cinema: a more dignified sight than the one of him tanning a bottle of champagne a few hours later.

Gosh, that was a lot of hair colours ago.

To the Lighthouse.

After killing time at the airport with my freshly converted currency (and picking up a couple of bottles of prosecco at duty free in anticipation of an upcoming reunion), it was off to Iceland!
