Maximising her Scottish experience in the limited time available, Linds, Julien and I headed off to Edinburgh on her last full day in the country. The train journey was rife with health and safety nightmares and a familiar glimpse at the beautiful face that has graced so many of our previous trips together.

The 3,000 miles between us having put something of a dampener on our bestie-ship of late, I was more than a little excited to hear that Lindsay would be on my side of the Atlantic in 2013. Quite in contrast to our days as almost-next-door neighbours in Akita, this was our first in-person reunion since my visit to Canada in 2011, and the day we said goodbye in Hong Kong before that.

After introducing Lindsay and Julien to the cats, John and I kicked off their tour de Sukottorando at the Scotland Street School Museum.
